I read in the TP today that "Mainieri voiced concerns about Tiger Stadium as a hitting backdrop in center field". What's the concerns?

as a batter it might be tough to pick up the ball from the pitcher with a light background and a white baseball?!

Yeah that's what I thought, but the centerfield fence is 10 feet high. Maybe they'll raise it to 12.

Maybe they should put the intimidator from the old box right in the middle of center field

I talked to the project manager the other day and he said that the batter's eye (direct center field) has had some plan changes. The direct center field wall will now be 35 feet tall, basically eliminating any sight of Tiger Stadium for a batter. Only problem is that it is a design change and the state must approve the change. Therefore, there will be a temporary backdrop set up until the new design is approved and constructed.

A 35' wall in center? That's basically "Green Monster" height. That can't be right. Maybe he meant a batter's eye behind the wall that's 35' high.

if something is put in center field to block the view of Tiger Stadium, it will stand behind the fence to allow room for a camera stand for TV, and allow HR's to go actually over the 10ft wall and not make it a green Monster and a 465ft shot to center.

How high is/was the green monster at the old Box? I'd guess 30 ft.

the state must approve the change
So we're looking at this thing being implemented in 2011.

He was only just stating the obvious and saying it will be different backdrop than the old box. No concerns. Also he said the outfield fence will be about a foot higher than the old one. It doesn't matter cause we're Omaha bound!

A live Oak Tree gives a sense of grandness and maturity to the habitat.

Maybe they can take the majestic live oak that's supposed to be in Mike's cage and plant it behind center field. Are they talking about the dead tree trunk across his stream? Maybe I'm off in left field.

There will be a 18' batters eye windscreen behind the 10' outfield fence.

Except we need to get mike a piece of arse to come home to after he works late on saturday nights. If we did that though he may never go to tiger stadium.
