the seats in my 99 f-250 lariat are starting to really wear out. is reupholstery in these older trucks something that i can DIY, or should i get it done professionally? anyone got any recommendations or experience with this?

I used Katzkin as well, was 999 for our f150 XLT when we bought it.

I love my Katzkin in my 150, I actually think it's higher quality than the factory leather.

The quality is way better than factory, factory is mostly Naugahyde and very little real leather.
Go katskin OP

I replaced it myself in a King Ranch. It just depends on the seat.

You can EASILY do the seat bottoms in the front in leather. You might need new seat bottom cushions that are molded like the factory. They say you can steam them out to "new shape"... they will not hold up. Your new seat cover will have a spot that is slack under it. If you have an F250 with center console covered in leather with stitching... this is also availalbe aftermarket and is pretty easy to do. Just have to keep working it and stretching it a bit.
The only tool you will need to do seat bottoms is upholstery cow ring pliers. $3-$4 at harbor freight. You will not be able to do the seat without them because they are what is used to attach the leather seat covers... through the foam, to the seat support.
Assume the seat backs are similar but no experience with them.

If you want to get Robbed go to an upholstery shop.
$850; livewell seat, lean post seat, lean post back, 1.5 yards of material.
I did get a $50 discount for paying cash.
