Anyone else find their lack of improvement or progression alarming considering they had a whole offseason?

Hot take, Mubenga and Chester have been better than Thompson.
Chester actually played pretty well against Tech and Mubenga hasn't been incredible but he's been very solid. IIRC, Chester graded as one of our best linemen in week 2 and Mubenga graded very well against Florida.

I think Mubenga has improved a lot. In most of the film review I've seen, Davis is the one that has struggled the most, and he's a RS Freshman starting for the fist time.
We've also faced, possibly, the 2 toughest D-lines we might see the rest of the regular season...

Agreed. The left side of the line and Moore have actually played pretty well. Thompson has had some struggles and Weston is clearly still finding his footing. I wouldn't even mind seeing Chester take some RG reps. He's objectively been better on tape, albeit with less of a sample size, than Thompson has been this year IMO.
I think people saw DJ struggle at tackle (which he's not a tackle) against Clemson and it's just become the popular thing to crap on him. When I've turned on the tape, DJ Chester has clearly improved over last season and has actually been pretty solid. He's unfortunately the victim of the fan echo chamber which is often led by people who have no clue how to watch tape and eval players.

They are good enough to be the next man up, immediately after someone goes down. They must not suck that much. These other freshmen and players that we aren’t seeing in those situations are in practice every single day and being watched every single rep by Collegiate Coaches, yet aren’t being chosen. Mub and Ches obviously oustshine the others.

I think people just can't let go of last year. They saw Paul and DJ struggle last year and they see the O line struggling this season so they immediately default to PM & DC being the issue. On tape though, they're not.

Plot twist - the whole line stinks.

Weston Davis is by far the biggest issue with the OL right now followed up by the guy playing next to him.
Mubenga hasnt been good but been a lot better than Davis and even slightly better than Thompson in the UF game.
Thompson is 1 transfer we certainly arent getting our returns on right now compared Moore next to him

I think the left side of your line is actually pretty good.

Mubenga has improved dramatically since last season, especially in pass pro and Chester played better against Tech than he did in any game last season.
