Do game trail cameras work through window glass?

In the past some nice young men have rooted through my tailgate stuff in the bed of my truck while I attended the football game. I am working on a way to get these fine young men the publicity they deserve.
My question is, will a trail cameras work through work through automotive window glass?

Why not try it on yourself? Would only take a couple of minutes of your time

There are plenty of dash cam (front and rear) options that will work for this. Any camera should work through window glass except infrared ones. If the motion detection depends on infrared then that probably won't work either.

The lens probably needs to sit flush against the glass.
I have an indoor security camera I point out the front window of my home. If the lens isn't flush against the glass you can't see much with the reflection.

Good question….i only duck hunt, so I don’t actually have a camera currently. If I can get some reasonable idea that it would work, I will buy a camera and fabricate a bracket to mount it to my back window..
I don’t want to simply put it in the truck’s bed for obvious reasons.

If you're going to do that I would just go ahead and buy a dash cam type camera. You can get some reasonable ones out there and still use it on your vehicle when you are done.

PIR sensors are really looking for temperature differentials. So it might not work through an enclosed glass the way you think of motion might work.
