People took note of what happened last night

Went to church in Scottsdale this morning and someone, knowing I’m from Louisiana, came up to me and said:
Man, your Tigers are going to be good this year! That defense was something and your offense has great potential. That game was not even remotely as close as the final score.
(A pretty concise, correct summary, in my opinion).

This is why you play a competitive game to start the season.
Everyone is pumped for LSU now.

Not only that, but if you win you're figuratively running downhill for the rest of the season. A ton of momentum at your back. You have to be ready to play the game though. The only season opener that LSU had any business losing was FSU in Orlando.

Yep, two of those games under Kelly should have gone the other direction.
I think lessons have been learned.

Judging from how the game went, i'm not sure about that. The emphasis was there, but the killer instinct still wasn't there. The team is just finally as good all around as an LSU team should be every year.

I wouldnt expect it in game one with a bunch of transfers.

I get it, especially on the road against a top 5 team, but this game was only close because LSU let it be close.

Exactly. Playing a tough opening opponent has never cost us. Sure, we lost some, but those teams were never good enough to win anything anyway. The teams that are good enough to contend win the opening game. So the point isn’t whether to schedule a tough opener or not; the question is whether to have a great team or not. And the answer is Yes.

We owned the second half. Just had a bad call against us and some fumbles. Those hopefully can be fixed.

Looking back I’m sure they went as conservative as they did to take the pressure off the OL. But if that defense didn’t have a killer instinct last night then I don’t know what a killer instinct is.

The called back TD really was pivotal. It's amazing to go on the road vs a top 5 team, get a TD stolen from you and still really have the game in doubt. There just isn't a way to emphasize that win enough last night.

Yes it was.
LSU really dominated the second half of that game. Just like we've always wanted.
I had no doubt Clemson would fail to score on their last gasp, havent felt like that in years.

I had that gnawing feeling at the end, saying why are we even at risk at this point? But I definitely had 10x more confidence than the last couple of years that the D would get the stop.

I said to one of the guys I was watching with "I've seen other LSU teams fold after plays like that".
Not this time.
