Everything as we expected.
Jay originally wanted 42, had clearance to carry 40, ended up with 39.
I think once they missed out on one last specific guy they didn't want to stretch just to fill a spot.
ETA: The breakdown on who the recruiting coordinator was when players on this roster committed to LSU is this:
Nolan Cain 4
Dan Fitzgerald 5
Josh Jordan 30

Yorke coming in just under three bills. Love it.

Josh turned down the head coach job at Duke. Pretty crazy.

Because they're not funding beyond the 11.7 scholarships. Among other reasons.

Yikes
Love hearing his thoughts on the Catcher and how important it is for them to have rest to help their hitting. Looks like we will see it split.

Total of 18 position players… tons of playing time out there. Pitching stacked.

Koki already getting facts wrong. John Pearson is draft eligible.

This conversation about MLB using college more and more…
Could an MBL team invest in a college team through NIL? Say the Nationals or Astros make a deal with LSU to pay players to go there then set them up to be drafted. I wonder if there was a mechanism to make that work.

There is no mechanism for it right now. And if there were, MLB wouldn't allow it unless it benefitted all teams.
A while back, the Astros and Braves went around paying for TrackMan units to be installed at JUCO facilities, as long as only they got the data. MLB forced them to make the data available to everyone.

There wouldn't be any way to guarantee another team doesn't draft the players those teams funded through college.

Yeah, the route would look a lot more like college hockey, or like the draft and follow that baseball uses for JUCO players currently.

Then say the MLB does it as a whole? I’m not saying it’s possible but thinking outside the box somewhat.

It's probably coming in some fashion, like I mentioned above.
Astros draft a HS kid and retain his rights for a year, two, or three, whatever, but he goes to school and joins them at some later date.

As serious as they are about pulling money out of the minors, something has to take its place. And while college will see some really good athletes show up and stick around at the highest level, I can’t see the MLB pulling out too far without some control.

They're testing the waters right now with the re-implementation of the draft and follow.
