Everyone I've showed it to says Rat as well. The head looks triangular which made me second guess myself.

He's bluffing trying to flatten out it's gotten many of a snake killed over the years especially water snakes look at the eyes and scales on the head

My pic would've included a large hole through the metal wall panel asking for the ID being that the head was nowhere to be located.
