On public land, are they absolutely needed?
I have a 4 wheeler but very limited on space to keep a trailer where i live.
Thanks OB

It really depends on the public land you’re referring to and what parts you’re trying to access. Most state WMA’s have both walk in and ATV trails. Some public land areas also have vehicle size restrictions which can limit SxS access on the ATV trails.

There’s plenty of area you can hunt public land without an ATV or SXS, I hunt public land with ATV because I like to go in deep and avoid people, and not all trails can be taken by SXS. I stick it in the bed of my truck with ramps.

an ebike is an option. They're legal on wma ATV trails. Might have trouble with mud at some places, though.

This. Most people hunt the first 1,000 yards off the main roads.

There is only maybe a couple WMA's in Louisiana that allow an ATV/UTV off the designated trails to retrieve your kill. Most only allow them on a designated trails and that includes bicycles and E-Bikes.

Last wma i went to i met a dude who was scouting. He told me he doesnt even use a four wheeler. He just walked around everywhere. Areas anywhere near a 4 wheeler trail will have the adverse effect of increased pressure due to ease of access for people.
Smart IMO due to less moving parts you gotta worry about (trailer if you have it and 4 wheeler). I would hate to be out there and then the thing just craps out on you and you're stuck out there.
That said, dragging a deer out of a wma without one has to suck.

Everyone wants to go in deep, meanwhile the deer are laying up within 100 yards near the roads.
