Medjool date palm...I buried a date pit about six weeks ago in the flower bed

I buried a date pit about six weeks ago in the flower bed and it finally sprouted. We shall see.

Medjool date palms don't tolerate high humidity well. See if you can find Halawi or Barhi.

Or a freeze according to the internet. I’m just happy it sprouted but I’ll try and keep it alive as long as possible.

There are tons of them in NOLA and Metairie. They should do fine for a long time.

medjools are cold hardy in zone 9
