Haven't seen this posted in here and knowing how many people go to east Tennessee in the fall.

US 441/Newfound Gap Road is closed on the Tennessee side of the Smokies between Sugarland Visitor Center and the Newfound Gap Overlook/Parking Area. Heavy rains a couple of weeks ago caused a landslide that undermined the highway.

NPS is targeting early October for repair and reopening. Newfound Gap and Clingman's Dome are currently accessible via the North Carolina side of the park.

Doubtful we will go up there any time soon, but my MIL lives in Knoxville.

Was mainly posting because I hadn't seen it mentioned and didn't want it to impact anyone from here planning on going in the next couple of months.

The closure of Newfound Gap Road stretches from Sugarlands Visitor Center to Newfound Gap. All facilities and trails located along that stretch, like Chimney Tops, Alum Cave, Cove Hardwood Nature Trail, as well as others, are impacted. Sugarlands Visitor Center remains open.

I-40 is currently down to 1 lane in each direction near the border following ongoing construction necessitated by damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Oh gotcha, I misunderstood the post. You were giving information and I thought you were asking a question.
To acces from the NC side is a long drive for anyone coming from the Pigeon Forge area. For me it would be worth it, but I like hiking Clingmans. That’s kinda a bummer for anyone who wants to hike Alum Cave trail.
