I’ve been using a DF64 grinder and Breville Bambino and love the coffee. Just seems like I’m spending too much of my time on it making 6 shots total each morning.

Recommendations for automatic machines? Not ready to go Miele price range yet.

Would you keep the DF64 grinder and single dose it or are the built in grinders good enough?

The Breville Barista Express built-in grinder is great. Only problem is you can't measure out the weight of the beans if you are particular about that. It just comes down to how much you care about the espresso you're drinking and how much you are willing to spend.

I switched from the Breville Barista Express to a Delonghi Dynamica Plus for this reason (too much time) and have been very happy. I had it down to a science with my BBE (weighing & timing shots) but it became too time consuming with kids and the morning routine. I have been overly impressed with the Delonghi as it pull shots at the press of a button that are very close to the quality & consistency of the BBE, which took considerably more effort.

I caught mine on sale last year for around $1300.

This is exactly where I am too.

Thanks for the recommendation, looks like t00f also likes this machine.

I am assuming you just use the built-in grinder on the Delonghi?

I get around the time it takes to do espresso by just doing drip for weekday mornings.

As for the grinder, a DF64 will absolutely be better than whatever is built into an auto machine. DF64 is a 64mm flat burr, most built ins are cheap conical burrs.

I tried to do this but ran into consistency issues when changing the grind size between ground and espresso (back and forth).

Oh yeah, guess I should mention I have a separate grinder for drip. If you have the counter space, that’s the way to go. But I could understand just wanting one machin which makes the automatic appealing.

I make me a double shot of Espresso every morning and it take me about three minutes. My wife on the other hand wants a freaking latte. That shite takes an extra 8 minutes. No fricking lie.

Six shots must take a lifetime.

This is why I do drip on weekdays

Buy a jura and you'll never have to buy another coffee maker again. Can make any type of cup you want. Think of it as an investment

Still rolling with my original set up. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from Fresh Roast Coffee is the bean I use for my espresso. For her lattes, I use FRC Colombian.

Nice.

Try Me Coffee Roasters is doing free delivery in Orleans parish for 2025. 2 lbs for $28, good deal but I wasn’t blown away by it. I also tried a bag of Honduran from Cool Kids Roasters bought from District Donuts, thought it was very good. I’m still using FRC organic Mexican for everything which is good but my last order seemed a little over roasted/oily. Unusual for them.

I do a 20g ground to 60g output shot every morning for myself, and a 20gb ground to 50g output shot for my wife. We do an iced latte every morning, and I couldn't taste the difference between it and pulling a double shot like I used to.

I bought a second portafilter so I could prep the second shot while pulling the first

Interesting.

I do a standard 18g to 36g output. Twice for me and once for the wife.

I have been using a roaster out in California that I really like their beans. I need to venture out and try others.

I’ll do 20g in and 40g out for my espresso. I do about 20g/55g for her latte.

I’ve been doing 20g in 55g out around 40 seconds or so for my americanos and her flat whites. Pressure usually peaks around 7bar and settles around 4 or 5. If I go any finer on grind, I’ll get to 9 bar but very slow pull.

Pretty much this. If I'm doing a sipper, I'm making the shot more refined. For my typical iced latte shots, I squeeze every once I can out of it

so does the dinamica and you can often get a factory refurb on amazon for under $1k so its a killer deal at that price.

i wouldn't trade mine for anything. it stopped my expensive coffee shop habit COLD TURKEY. i can count on one hand how many times i've gotten coffee out in 2025.
