RIP Bobby....
Bobby Whitlock was an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as a member of the blues-rock band Derek and the Dominos, formed with Eric Clapton in 1970–71. He was a key contributor to their album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs," co-writing seven of the fourteen songs including hits like "Tell the Truth," "Bell Bottom Blues," and "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?"
Born March 18, 1948, in Memphis, Whitlock's early career was rooted in Memphis soul, working with acts like Sam & Dave and Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He was the first white artist signed to Stax Records. Later, he joined Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, where he met Eric Clapton, which led to their collaboration on George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" album and the formation of Derek and the Dominos. Whitlock played multiple instruments, sang, and was influential in the creative process of the band and beyond.
He released four solo albums in the 1970s and contributed to albums by notable artists including Clapton and the Rolling Stones. After a hiatus, he resumed recording and performing from the late 1990s onward, often collaborating with his wife CoCo Carmel and other musicians based in Austin, Texas.

frickkkkk that sucks.
He was phenomenal on the Layla album and the driving force behind getting Clapton to sing to his limits.
Good ole southern boy too. RIP Bobby.

He played at the Chimes one night way back in the day. It was a really good show even though he played Layla twice.
