questioning whether any team in the SEC could finish in the top 8 of the Big East this year. It was mentioned that TN had several wins vs the Big East and he downplayed it saying TN was playing better at that point.

The reason I mentioned this eventually has me thinking about March Madness. If people continue to beat down the conference overall, it will have an impact on how many teams will get in, which in turn may have an impact on us as things tighten up down the stretch.

I don't recall neither of the commentators discussing LSU as relevant in SEC play during the second half, but they mentioned SC, discussed what TN/FL had to do, and mentioned that UK lost two this week. Maybe I am reading too much into this, but I don't want what these guys are doing to be overshadowed by teams that we have beaten and the fact that we are currently leading the West. It was frustrating listening to this discussion.

I agree with you. After the Xavier game, the espn retards stated that 3 sec teams would be in the tourney and no one from the west. I couldn't imagine being left out of the big dance with 10 or 11 conference wins, no matter how weak our schedule is rated.

I agree, but we will see how this thing ends. We will definitely need to win the West, though.

As much as I hated Duke Vitale's comments, he does make a fair argument.

Apparently a lot of people agree with him too, since there are 8 Big East teams voted in the top 25 of the coaches poll compared to no SEC teams.

UT did beat Marquette and Georgetown earlier this year, but we have struggled somewhat since.

The problem is that so many SEC teams play very weak OOC schedules. Has anyone else even played a game against the Big East besides UK / Louisville?

hahahaha.. right!

It would be cool to have this team show something.. or KEEP showing something. Keep it up Chris Johnson, you're our only hope.

I only time anybody with ESPN or anyone for that matter has watched LSU would be in the Xavier game so that kinda talk doesn't surpirse me at all.

Damn I wish we could have that 8 minute scoring drought back.

I'd also like to know what Seth Davis of SI says on CBS tomorrow. Seth believed last Sunday that no SEC west teams get in. WOnder if he changes his tune.

I don't know what to say about ESPN. It's almost as though they do not take the SEC west seriously. I know the whole East Coast bias thing is bogus, but notice that UK, UF, TN are the three most talked about teams in the league.

They just love to go off what programs have done in the past, and not go out and actually notice teams that are having a solid season.

The Tigers are really turning it around but have y'all watched the teams in the Big East? It's a different level of basketball. I think we are on our way and will get there but Vitale and Espn aren't being biased, thats just how it is. Big East basketball this year is like the SEC in football.

Agreed.

Seth Davis said on CBS last weekend that the SEC would only get 3 teams in and none from the SEC West.

How he could possibly know that so early I'll never know, but when talking heads like Davis and Vitale start saying that on national t.v. it can get traction.

And hey, The SEC is down this year...but dismissing the West winner arbitrarily so early is irresponsible. He should have at least qualified the statement.

To an extent, you are right. There are so many damn teams, that it looks like you're dealing with a two in one conference. As another poster pointed out, however - Tennessee owns wins ovr two of them. Gtown, ND, and hell, even 'Cuse are very overrated.

I think we could beat anyone of their teams but no way we could slug it out through their conference this year. Those teams will be battle tested come tournament time.

I don't think we could beat Pitt or UCONN. Too damn strong on the inside.

But I'd like our chanced in the PMAC against most of the others.

I heard this as well and although it was frustrating to listen to, he did say that it goes in cycles and the SEC teams are very young, coaching changes, etc. He did say they are a proud conference and that it would be back. He also alluded to either Bama or Georgia looking at hiring Bob Knight.(didn't mention him by name) That would bring immediate media attention to the conference. Bob Knight coaching Bama in the PMAC against a resurgent LSU program. Does have a nice ring to it...
