My observations from the alumni game today...

If you weren't there, here is what you missed...
--Stanley Roberts easily weighs in at 4 bills. He had a dunk at the end of the game that almost brought down the goal though
--Clarence Ceasar has ballooned to at least 3 bills. Dude hit about a 28 footer though...so he still has that.
--Geert Hammink shaved his head and has a beard. Almost didn't recognize him.
--Joe Dean made an appearance (not in the game). He is really looking old these days.
--Maurice Williamson was there on crutches. Turns out he injured himself while trying to get in shape for the game...
--TJ Pugh took the mic after the game and asked the fans to keep in their hearts the guys who are no longer with us...namely Don Redden, Greg Cook, and Pete Maravich. VERY classy on his part.
It was really fun just watching those guys run up and down the court again.

Dunking at 400+ no matter how tall you are is impressive.

I had a blast at the alumni game. So glad I went. All of the players seemed like they were having a great time. Must have been sentimental for guys like Ethan Martin to be running the fast break in the AC for the first time in nearly 30 years.
My observations..
It took me the entire game to realize I was watching Geert Hammink
Clarence Ceasar is HUGE. How the hell did he get so big
Leonard Mitchell and Oliver Brown had a free throw shooting contest at the half and Mitchell put on a clinic. Not sure why he didn't play in the game. He looked like he could suit up and play now.
Ben McDonald played a lot and is still in good shape.
T.J Pugh can still play. He gave an impromptu speech at the end of the event mentioning Don Redden and Greg Cook.
Vernel looked like he was in nearly in playing shape. Had a couple of dunks.
It was a little strange seeing guys that just played a few yars ago (Antonio Hudson, CT III) playing with some of the '81 squad.

If he had held onto the rim for a split second longer, he would have broken the whole thing...no exaggeration. The goal almost collapsed.

Yeah Ben McDonald had the best game of his career. That was sad to watch him going all out.

CT 3 hitting his dad in the head with the ball was classic.

Did Ronnie Henderson and Nikita Wilson suit up? If got there a little late and didn't see them.

Ronnie Henderson was wearing #55.

Thanks. I must have missed him. I got there right after they announced the players and had a hard time figuring out some of them. Could he still play? I'm rying to remember..did Henderson leave after his Jr. year? I guess he didn't play much in the NBA?

I don't think he played that much. He was still thin but, you know, he is pushing 60 or so so he couldn't really get after it.

Hud looked like he was playing in the Georgia Dome.

I really enjoyed my day. I LOVED the alumni game and took pictures with most of the players. I had a blast!!! I wish they would do this more often. I wish they would do a football alumni flag football game!!!

I didn't know about this game until much too late. Where was DeWayne Scales? Would have liked for all the newbies to see the Astronaut jam one, even if it's been almost 30 years. Did Macklin get a dunk in?.........

I'll try to post the pics.
