For the saltwater guys that fish Vudu shrimp or Mark 54 type baits. How do you store them? In the package they come in or do you take them out and use some kind of soft bait binder. I have been leaving them in their original package and using a Plano 3731 but I'm to the point I have 4 of those full with shrimp baits and soft plastics in their original packaging that I need to look at something else. Those big boxes takes up to much room.

Was thinking about the same this week. I notice if these baits touch and are in heat/sun for a long time, they tend to degrade and get sticky. I'm curious to see what others have done.

Does this happen with Marker 54?

Can't speak to those baits specifically as I only inshore fish 1 or 2 times per year, but for similar type packaging bass plastics, I have 2 alternatives:

Large Clear Waterproof Tackle Bags

That specific one is the Academy brand (and works well), but lots of folks make them now. They are basically super heavy duty ziplocs with both a squeeze closure (waterproof) and an additional standard zipper closure.

The other option are these bags from LIV fishing:

Those bags are what I was thinking about, I use those for worms, brush hogs and baits of that sort. But didn't know if the shrimp would hold up in them just because the package states don't mix with other plastics.

In original package but inside a flip-style 3 ring bag

Keep vudu seperate from the other baits. Keep all in original packaging if able. If not, they go in sandwhich size ziplock bag with others of same same make. Stick all the smaller ziplocks into a single gallon ziplock. Stash gallon ziplock in boat or boat bag.

I have a couple of those and they are good for storing plastics that are in bags. They are not water tight though.

Liv fishing also makes some very good thick zipper bags. I have some of them and I keep my Berkley stuff in them so everything in the boat and garage does not smell like gulp baits

They typically have a bulk deal on their site for both

Found this info. Vudu Quality

It looks like you can put them in bags. May give it a try with a few. I would hate to ruin a shite load of expensive plastics. The damn sharks and mackerel did enough of that our last trip to Fourchon.

Buddy of mine is running the YETI Gobox 30 and has plastic trays stacked inside. Little pricey for me but it is a sweet set up which is also waterproof.

i go get the cheapest small lunchbox sized soft cooler (with hard insert on inside) from walmart and put them all in there in the original package. Waterproof, easy to transport, holds a ton, and about 1/100 the price of that yeti.

Yep, soft and sticky, I just toss them and use a new one when that happens.

I usually store them in the academy bags I bought them, and only find them after I buy more

Costco has a box exactly like that made by Coho. $50sh maybe. Also Academy/Magellan has some waterproof storage boxes too for around $50. I have a Magellan one I keep on my boat. It’s handy.

Kind of sidebar question.

Do the soft tail gulp! Brand shrimp actually work?

Just rig the under a cork/slider?

I'm still pretty new to salt water fishing.

I've been using a Carolina rig and shrimp with pretty good results, but looking to mix it up.

You are correct. I bought a couple. I won’t hide it. I love yeti products. They have always performed well for me and their customer service is amazing. But their pricing is just out of control. I have a ton of their coolers and cup and their shaker top that you put on top of a 20 ounce yeti is the best way to mix drinks that I’ve had.

I really wanted the 30 size loadout box but that thing is $300. I found the case you’re talking about at Costco and bought a couple. You’re correct they’re about $55. They are a little smaller than the loadout 30 yeti box but they’re built similar. It’s waterproof, has rubber feet on the bottom and has some compartments in the lid to put small items. It also comes with two trays. I wanted this to put in the console of my boat to keep all my safety gear and first aid kit things and make sure they stay dry. I just could not say spending $250-$300 for the yeti box just to sit there the majority of the time.

The Costco boxes have been amazing and I went back and bought a couple more.

I also found this company that sells very low priced boxes that have performed well. They are rugged and have the rubber seal to keep water out. They also stack. I bought 3 decent sized ones for the boat for $70 I think. Very satisfied with them as well.

They have free shipping and a lot of different sizes. Its not the quality of the Yeti you can get 10 for what that loadot 30 costs

I ordered some of the bags that worms and such come in. I will try those, then put those in a Buzbe fast flatz bag to keep them separated from other plastics that will be in a Buzbe quik qubes. Then I will be able to grab that and a few boxes and put them into a swarm bag when I go with a buddy. Hopefully that cuts down on the amount and size of bag I need to bring when in someone else’s boat.

They do. Especially in muddier water. You will have an uptick in catfish ratio however.
