One of the sergeants who worked for me just texted me about two Weatherby rifles he just fell into through inheritance he's selling. One of them has a Weatherby scope mounted on it. I'm not going to buy either one but, being unfamiliar with those scopes, I'm curious:

Anyone have one and how are they?

Want to ask him if it's cool to give the baws his number if you aren't interested?

.340 Weatherby Mag

My email is mwt357@gmail.com. I'll talk to you there. I don't want to break any rules here about soliciting.

I'd never even seen one of those scopes. Was hoping someone here had. Just curious.

I know there's a poster here with Weatherby in his screen name (257Wthrby, I believe?). Was counting on him being a Subject Matter Expert.

I’ve never heard of a Weatherby scope.

I’m far from an expert but that’s a new one to me.

Are they Imperials or Supremes? The Imperials were made in Germany by Hertel & Reuss.

Have owned both, still own the .224. Also had a Mark XXII with the scope you referenced. Believe they are Jap made. BRB

ETA - Per my copy of Weatherby’s biography “Developed an entirely new line of scopes which he called the Weatherby Premier….Introduced in 1972 and produced by the Asia Optical Company in Japan…… Weatherby Supreme replaced the Premier line in 1984 and were also produced for him by Asia Optical Conpany.”

Yea the German scopes were before that.

Earlier optics also included the Imperial Scope and were produced for Weatherby by Hertel & Reuss and manufactured in West Germany between 1964 and 1973. Weatherby manufactured its Premier Scopes from 1973 to 1982 and its Supreme Scopes from 1983 to 1994.[7]
