Update on Nielsen ratings- what they ask and how they've rewarded us.

Background: somehow I have been a Nielsen family four times before this week. Once for a whole week in Houston, then a one night in Houston, then twice in New Orleans.
Each time a crisp dollar was my reward.
Then last week, a new letter with five crisp dollar bills and telling me that they would call soon with questions about our TV and radio viewing and listening. The call came yesterday, and they wanted to know both with station names/ids and when they were. And we're supposed to get $10 for our answers.
The increase in payment to us is interesting. the addition of radio is interesting and It seems that TPTB are wanting more 'meat' in the questions they ask and the detail of the answers.

That’s not a Nielsen family. That’s a survey maybe conducted by Nielsen. A Nielsen family actually has equipment in their house and they have to login to it each time you watch TV. Your viewing habits represent the entire ZIP Code that you’re in.
