This is absolutely heartbreaking to lose this structure. Just went there in June and got to stay right after the transformer failure and pretty much had the run of the place since so little people were there that first night. Hopefully they get the money and can rebuild it similar to what it was instead of how the South Rim is developed.

Beautiful place. Was there about 5 years ago. I hope it comes back better than ever.

Unfortunately it cannot come back better. It was an antique with unique furnishings unlikely to be replicated. All of that in one environment helped scent the place with its history and nostalgia.

But the cabins sucked arse. They’ll definitely better.

That place was pretty incredible. Driving up to the Grand Canyon to the north side you can’t really see the canyon because of the trees so you pull up to the lodge and walk through the entrance to the dining room and the wall of windows allows you your first glimpse of the canyon all at once. It really was breathtaking. I enjoyed the North rim so much more than the south rim.
