Hey y’all!
South Carolina fan here & looking forward to my first trip to Death Valley in October (def hoping for a night game to get the full experience)! My wife graduated from LSU in 2011 & for the past 7 years I’ve considered LSU the team I cheer for when they’re not playing the Gamecocks (happy to see Braswell get a ring in Omaha!) Staying in Harahan at my MIL’s place but making a day trip to Baton Rouge that Saturday. I've been looking at old posts to try & get the feel for must-do’s pregame. Would love any suggestions including the best place to park & tailgates to hit up (will def be bringing bourbon to share). Thanks & cheers ??!

I recommend starting the day at Chimes, drink some beer and eat some good food.
Walk around campus after and make friends. You’ll get tiger-baited initially but then will be welcomed to some world class jambalaya and drinks.
Enjoy the day! Mid-october could be the first cool weekend of the year for us

Wofford Terriers? If so, thanks for Cowan AND Braswell

Have a great time. I would highly suggest getting a ride share or something to the game and screw trying to park. You can spend two hours plus after the game in your car in traffic or hanging out at tailgates

You’re a few years too late for that. Full experience of Tiger Stadium is over.

I recommend you to purchase some ear plugs

I must ask. Did you go to Wofford with that name?

Yeah, went to Wofford (graduated 09)

Not entirely true. I was at Ole Miss game last season and that was a good a night game as ever. But those experiences are less frequent these days.

You'll have a good time. The closest SEC market to BR to me is Columbia. Just buy some parking passes on the secondary market. They are worth it for one game. If we are both still playing for something, the game will be at night and the environment should be electric.

But seriously- welcome!
Start the day at Chimes as soon as they open with bloody Mary’s and appetizers then migrate to campus. Just walk around, be friendly, ease up to a tailgate and say “Dang! That looks good!!”, be prepared to just roll with it and take a little shite talking, do some bull shitting, and enjoy yourself. You’ll be well taken care of.

No doubt - Cowan showed out this year esp in that 2nd Arkansas game in Omaha! HUGE college baseball fan but the Gamecocks have been in the doldrums since 2013. Not big on the hire of Manieri ???????

The only suggestion my wife had was the parade ground (which to my understanding is where a good number of college kids & fraternities tailgate). Fully expecting all the “tiger bait” & absolutely love the banter, but not quite my scene.
Thanks y’all for the suggestions so far! Will def try to make it to Chimes when they open. Heard they have a boudin omelet which sounds amazing

For breakfast, Chimes would be a good “vibes” place to go to because of the location and crowds, but the actual food quality has seriously regressed in the past few years in my opinion. If you want to try some easier and maybe better breakfast options, try Simple Joe’s, Louie’s Cafe (just outside campus), Fork n’ Spoon, or Coffee Call (this is a beignet place).

You are not wrong about Chimes. The atmosphere is still great and the food is roughly 90% as good as it was pre covid imo. I was disappointed they took grits off the menu last time I went

Yeah don’t go there. Our students are trashy.
