Bro, don't you know? If we don't stop them in Donbass Ukraine then they're going to overrun Berlin and Paris and London!

And that would be horrible, just horrible because...

Well, democracy!

Because Russia's goal is to secure the Polish and Bessarabian Gaps. Unfortunately, those are on the other side of Ukraine. If Putin rolls into Poland or Romania, we're obligated by treaty to get into the fight. We're trying to prevent that by sending weapons instead of actively fighting the Russians. This war has proven that U.S. forces would go through the Russians like shite through a goose, leaving Putin's only options as retreat, surrender, or nukes. I'm not necessarily happy about the money that we're spending either, but it beats the alternative.

What good do those gaps do for Russia?

Russia does not have the ability to do so.

Every investment Putin thought he made in his military was mostly stolen by Oligarchs. Russia's military looks good on paper but that is it. Modern weapon systems have devastated Putin's military.

Because they're the only geographical blocking positions where the Russians can place static forces to prevent invasion. The Northern European Plain is wide open all the way to Moscow once those are crossed. They've been invaded multiple times from those positions.

That was the dumbest argument from the left. Among the dumbest of all time.

That’s what makes me chortle. Russia is getting its arse handed to them or at minimum struggling with little old Ukraine yet they can also conquer all of Europe. Never have quite gotten that one.

They don't want all of Europe. Just all of Ukraine, a chunk of Poland, and a small piece of Romania.

It's a strong possibility. Ukraine itself doesn't help Russia much. They need to secure those gaps with static forces.

I wish they would. Russia is pretty much the only world power left trying to preserve cultural integrity and stand up to globalism.

The Ukrainians took care of that possibility. Russia was a great military power until the 1980s been in significant decline since then. They probably aren’t even top 5 maybe not even top ten in military ability right now. While we have been building space weapons and next generation technology weapons they have been letting shite rot.

I know that this is the PT forum, so we tend to view things through a hyper-political lens, but this war has nothing to do with ideology. Almost all wars, at their core, are nothing more than armed robberies between nations. Russia, sitting on a massive pile of natural resources, is attempting to protect itself from a robbery.

Those places could use some Democracy. Probably be better letting Russia take over. At least Russia doesn't allow hordes of barbarians invade their country to leech off of them and harass their women.

Almost the entirety of southwest Russia is Turkic Muslim. Russia doesn't keep them in the federation because they like them. They use them as a buffer and for manpower in their wars. We'll see what happens once Kadyrov is gone.
