I think what really matters is the quality of the athletes that we are getting and the needs that they fill. I've been following recruiting since the early 1970s, long before the internet websites were around. In my opinion this is the best class LSU has ever had if we finish with the 21 commits that we have. Should we be fortunate enough to get Randle and/or Mingo, it will be that much better.

Cheers to the coaching staff for a job well done, whether we finish #1 or #5 in the recruiting polls.

All it really does is raise expectations to an even more unrealistic level. I agree anywhere in top 5 is got to be about the same as nobody really knows how these kids will develop.

Considering that the #1 class usually follows a championship I would say no. It can help you gain another, but obviously most top classes have the potential to become great.

I would like to see top classes talked about after the classes are gone to see if the rankings are close.

What matters most is player development and how much better they are in year 3 and 4 than they were year one.

I want to finish on top

I am just being honest

and it does matter a bit for the publicity it brings to LSU, and bragging rights etc...so yeah to me it matters

LSU has been on top for a while now, lets not let the slip on the 1 yard line...finish!

Apex, I'll be right there cheering with you if we do win it. I just won't be disappointed if we don't win. If all goes as it should we will have crystal ball #3 very soon. That's the #1 rating that matters to me.

No it doesn't really matter all that much, I think it matters more to just consistently be around the upper tier in the rankings though.

But I think there are going to be 4 amazing classes this year with LSU, Bama, USCw, tOSU. The rest shall be proven on the field. But, I'd be happy to just be able to say that every year or at least the high majority of the years, even without seeing the number 1 by my team's class

So while it may not matter all that much, it is surely a fun ride while the "competition" is going on. It certainly helps keep me entertained as a sideshow during the football season and as the mainevent after the season

Texas' class is better than bama's and the way Florida closes on recruits, they could easily jump into the top 5

Just the sheer thought that after such a below par season, we can grab the #1 recruiting class. Just shows, that Les is not what the Rant was proclaiming him to be after the Ole Miss or Arkansas game.

Texas' class may be basically done, and we're gonna finish quite strong (though Texas' class is great anyways).

And if/when Florida jumps into the top 5 or deserves to be in that group I'll add them to the list
