Smokey and the Bandit 2 - Rewatch

The first SATB is an all time classic. Let’s get that out of the way.
Watched SATB2 yesterday and while I loved it as a kid, it honestly sucks all around. Except for the desert scene (in east Texas
) it really sucks.
Just didn’t have the charm of the first one. A total money grab.

Funny, I did the same thing recently and came away with the exact same feeling
One thing that was great though was seeing some of the scenes from Part 1 & 2 my dad and parran used to imitate when we were kids and it brought back great memories

Don’t get me wrong, I will still watch it and it has some good moments but overall it just sucked.

I enjoy it for its campiness, but it’s definitely an early example of Hollywood trying to force a franchise money grab out of a great movie that should have been left alone.

Its bizarre. Everyone was back. Same actors, same creative team. None of the wit or fun of the original.
I can understand Caddyshack 2 sucking, but it blows my mind that this movie is as bad as it is.

I'm kind of the other way. I didn't care for it as a kid and I've grown to like it - maybe not love it - but I think it was better than we thought back in the day.
The main thing is Jackie Gleason gets such a stage with all the various iterations of the Justice clan. Plus the film had some of charm and energy of the original (IMHO), although I'll agree it was not executed as well overall.

I feel this is more applicable to Part 3 - really a waste of time - not consistent with either of the first 2 and not really worthy of the name.

I've watched it & 1 with my boys so many times. Its one of the older movies they enjoy with me.
I'd tell them this when they'd want to stop on a trip.

The 3rd one is one of worst sequels of all time, and it did get a wide release.

I haven’t watched that on in its entirety. It was horrible.
