Marcus Thorton's NBA career?

No doubt, I think he has the ability to play at the next level. NBAdraft.net has him going in the middle of the second round. Most NBA fans know that a lot of second rounders don't latch on, however. Do you guys think he will pan out in the league?

he'll do better than Ronnie Henderson

Should be similar to a morris peterson of the hornets, maybe a little bit more play time.

Could turn into someone like Moe Williams for the Cavs, formerly of Alabama.

i wish the hornets would draft him and get some scoring off the bench

If Devin Brown plays every game last night, then we got no problems coming off the bench with him and Posey.

I would compare his NBA value to a Ronnie Henderson, although I thought he would do better than he did. Ronnie's a little taller as well, so I guess I can see Thorton playing a little bit in the NBA, nowhere near the minutes of MO PETE though...

It depends on the team and system. If you've paid attention, there are a lot of horrible teams and they've fired about a 1/3 of the coaches. Talent evaluations may be affected by all of this turmoil. As I think about this, think of someone like an Eddie House in Boston, A role player who can light it up and can be very streaky. He's too small to be a top SG and his defense on that level will be exploited. So he has to get a good fit, if not he can go to Europe and make $500K in their elite leagues.

This is his only chance to make it, although House may be the best shooter in the entire NBA. I don't think he makes it in the NBA, but he'll do well overseas. He's much too small to play the 2 in the NBA, and although he's an excellent shooter, it won't be enough to keep him in the league.

He can be like Flip Murray for the Hawks, a scoring G off the bench. There's always room for guys like that even if they bounce around a bit.

He's nearly the same size as Ray Allen who is not a point either. Not saying he's the same caliber, but a similar type player.

thornton is maybe 6'3 and ray allen is a legit 6'5 with a lightning quick release... he is no where near ray allen and would prolly do his game (and his bank account) better by going play overseas for $$$... jannero pargo signed a 3.5 million deal with some russian team... marcus can start out at 6 figures and eventually get a big payday... too small to be a 2 and doesnt handle the ball well enough to be a point guard... great college player though

Marcus will definitely make it in the NBA. He is a solid shooter; nice handles, strong awareness to take it inside; fearless; confident; a scorer for sure; and a above average basketball IQ. He is obviously coachable considering the fact that Trent Johnson has influenced his improvement this year.

6'3 shooting guards are a dime a dozen... he might get drafted and maybe hang on for a year or two, but i think the majority of his career will be overseas

He will have to play point in the NBA at 6'1 or 6'2, whatever he may be.

That would be nice if they would ever pay him.
Marcus has a legit shot at the leauge. He has stepped up his inside game this year and not relied so much on the 3. He has a very quick release as well. I think put in the right situation and given a chance he could have a nice nba career.
