Hilton Head Golf ideas

We are heading to Hilton Head next Sunday to stay at my wife’s cousins place for 4 days. I went with my family when I was 16 and we played a round of golf, but I don’t remember where. I know we stayed in Sea Pines.
At any rate, my 17 and 14 yr old sons are wanting to play a round or maybe 2. Any recommendations from the Golf Board? What courses to look into or avoid. Money isn’t really an issue as far as golf goes, but also not looking to spend crazy amounts on green fees. Think my biggest concern is going to be getting a tee time on a nice/decent course.

I would do Harbour Town( incredible) and one of the other Sea Pines courses

You might try Jim Uremovich at Old South Golf Club. Former LSU pitcher and top shelf guy. He will go out of his way to get you set up. He is the head pro.
Pretty decent course and worth the call.

Going in a few weeks and was researching courses today. Looks like Harbour Town is closed for renovations. I’m looking at Atlantic Dunes and Heron Point, but I’ve never played at HH before, so following for recommendations as well.

The Palmetto Dunes courses are really good. Robert Trent is not as tight as the others.
Hilton head country club is a really fun course to play too

I’m going in late July and after a decent amount of research I got tee times at Heron Point and Old South.
I would most likely have spent that $500 or whatever it is on Harbor Town but unfortunately it’s closed.

Well, the top two courses have very high greens fees. I think the marquee one is like 600+.
I played at shipyard and it was fine. But you gotta realize I’m a terrible golfer.
There were a lot of alligators on that course, I will say though.

That doesn't make much sense, money isn't an issue but it is?
Anyway, Harbour Town is under construction, they shut the course down after the Heritage Tournament and it won't open up till the fall. There's a lot of courses in the area; you shouldn't have much trouble getting tee times. Look on the Golf Now app and you'll see what's available then you can call the course and reserve your time without having to pay upfront. They do take your credit card number in case you skip out without letting them know in advance. I did this when I went to Myrtle Beach in May. I made reservations over the phone but called and cancelled a few when other courses I wanted to play opened up.

Here is my take on Hilton head golf. People feel like they need to play golf because they are on vacation but many of them have no business on a golf course. I played shipyard with my FIL 3 years ago and told him it was gonna be a long day because I was the best ball striker in the range and I’m a 15. I got hungry on the 14th hole 5 hours into the round and we left. Don’t make any plans later that day.

Try to get earliest tee time you can
The few times I've played, we had late morning tee times; and it was absolutely brutal
Worse than south Louisiana
