Any tips and tricks. Will be fishing there this weekend and have never laid eyes on it. What should I expect

I’d travel ‘bout 50min west of there, go to Toledo Bend…

If you start early...frog. You might be able to extend frog time by chasing shade. Poppers or prop baits on pad edges too. Once the sun is up, either target grass edges or docks. Lots of docks have brush out from them. Drag something heavy to find it if you don't have good imaging.

Okeechobee craw colored jig with electric blue curly tail trailer. If that gets boring, a KVD sexy shad crank bait. Good luck and let us know.

Used to fish there a lot many years ago. When the early bite up shallow slows, use small crankbaits on the end of tops and laydowns. Soft plastics works as well on deeper wood.

Lots of long stretches of hydrilla a few miles south of Shell Beach. The hydrilla is thick and grows out to 9-10' deep, and has what the pros call "cheese" on top (funky foam). There are lots of holes and lanes through it though.
From what I saw and heard, most big pad fields were sprayed at some point and are gone this summer.
I'd throw a frog around and over that grass and when it slows down, throw a Green pumpkin chatterbait w/chartreuse trailer along the outside edges.
Worked for me two weekends ago (no real big ones but some 1 1/2 - 3 lb'ers) and I saw no one else doing that. I'll be there Saturday morning to see if it's still on.
I know some guys that run shade with the frog all day and do well, but not me. Good luck

Honestly, you’re prolly better off fishing it at night now.
