Essence Fest 2025

How bad is it expected to be this year? A friend from out of town wants me to drive in from Houston. I haven't been in MSY while this fest was in full swing in probably 20 years, and am thinking about canceling my room in Metairie due to crowding in the quarter and an anticipated lack of Uber in/out of the quarter.

So, downvote means avoid it?

We all know what you're really asking........
I've been downtown NOLA several times while Essence Fest is going on.
It isn't a NBA Youngboy/Lil' Bleeda gangsta concert with a bunch of 20 year olds running around.
Essence is an older and more mature crowd.
The Essence Fest is at the Convention Center and those crowds don't affect the French Quarter crowds much.

Yes. I've been down there for 4th of July several years. We hang out in the Quarter and watch the fireworks around Jax Brewery.
The fireworks show is two dueling barges. I think most of the Essence crowd watches from the other barge that's closer to the Riverwalk Mall and the Convention Center.
The Convention Center is almost 1.5 miles away from Jackson Square.

I am blessed to have no idea who the hell either of them are, but I get your point.

You're from Houston. They're the Baton Rouge version of Travis Scott, Astroworld
