I get bored with most of what Hollywood force feeds us and tend to spend more of my movie watching time on unknown stuff. A few recent highlights

The Death of Dick Long - This is an A24 movie about some small town Alabama baws having fun until something happens and one of them dies. The other two try to clean it up while the local police investigate. This is labeled as a comedy but its more of a family drama. Strong Fargo vibes. Really enjoyed this one

Revenge - First movie from The Substance director. Basic story, hot girl is left for dead by her boyfriend and his idiot friends, she gets revenge. The director is the real star here. Its very stylish and colorful. Also lots of blood. Basically an ultra stylish I Spit on Your Grave.

Death of Dick Long was disturbing. Was supposed to be a black comedy but turns out to be gross

If you're into indie horror shorts, there are some absolute gems on YouTube.

The Ballad of Wallis Island on Peacock.

quote:

THE BALLAD OF WALLIS ISLAND follows Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of getting his favorite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer (Tom Basden & Carey Mulligan) back together. His fantasy turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.
