I actually believe the numbers this year, last year the first week when it was too rough to venture out was grossly overinflated.
That said, they are going to have to shift to weekends only pretty quickly or the season is going to end really early. And September always yields my best trips of the year.

It’s been on fire, and we haven’t had that many really great days yet- where you could really get out far….especially on the weekends. GI this weekend was SW wind, yielding 2-3s- when the forecast said 1-2s Makes a giant difference running out on how far you really want to go. The coming back to Barataria w/ a SW wind is magic tho- for the most part.

You got it- I’ve seen days where a guy in a 39 Contender tried to go out, and came right back after 15 minutes.
I’m in a 28’ tiny open or express style boat, and we were plowing through them yesterday where the ride was generally uncomfortable. Having the full glass and full bow covered generally makes it less gnarly because you don’t get wet.
A friend of mine went out Saturday afternoon in a 27, and they said they cavitated the props a few times heading out.
I think we may have 1 or 2 days where the bay boats could really stretch their legs.

I haven't launched south of golden meadow in 2025.

I would take weekends only if it extends the season. This is a much better situation then when noaa was setting the season.
NOAA backtracked on their proposal to close bottom fishing off of the Atlantic coast of Florida for three months.
Then they increased the season from 1 to 2 days.
Clowns.

It's been entirely too rough to fish on the west side of the state. the hish pressure has been over florida, and venice is seeing more good days than us.
I have only made one trip. This sucks.

I have made zero trips. Less adventurous than I was a few years ago. If the forecast isnt 1 foot or less, im probably not going out.
