Great post.

It's so wild to me that people still refuse to read Massie's own words about what he votes for and against and why.

This is how politics "works" and it's fricking sad.

If any politician in America has earned the benefit of the doubt, especially from conservatives, it's Thomas Massie.

Losing sight of the long term collective goal borders on narcissism in the current climate.

I'm willing to bet you haven't read the amendments to the bill.

I read his words. They are missing the important part about what the change is. If it was something important, Massie should have mentioned it. If it was something conservatives would hate, he could have used that to rally them around him. Isn't that what a real leader would do?

Instead he chose to be vague and complain about the bill changing without specifying the changes or why they are bad. He just wants you to be upset because he is upset, and if he listed the explicit changes, people would realize how ridiculous his argument is.

That's what he is counting on. Just take his word that it is bad because "something changed." No comment on the impact or scale of the change. He says it's bad, and that's good enough for many.

I agree with you. That probably justified a more long form post highlighting what actually changed. Maybe the changes are worth noting. And if they were he could have delved into that instead of just posting the bill for everyone to cross reference and dive into. Like the average person has the patience for that bullshite.

So passing a bill w/in a bill is a good idea now? Also, doesn't this bill add tons more to the debt? There are no cuts.

Why aren't Republicans getting on board w/ actual cuts.

also, about the border; If Republicans cared so much about the border, why in the hell isn't this just a single issue bill? Even some Dems would be forced to vote for it.

Just more bloat.

So passing bills within bills should be the new norm? Why are we pretending Democrats OR Republicans can be trusted w/ this? Just look at how they haven't passed an actual budget in what, 20 years?

If Republicans were really serious about spending, the border, or whatever else they pretend to support, they'd do single issue bills.

NONE of us have read this shite, but now we're supposed to just trust that all is on the up and up in these monstrosities? I'm just not buying it, bud.

Awesome screenname, though.

Most of the people to whom you're speaking are not Conservatives, though. They used to claim to be Conservatives. Today, however, they really have no political ideal or value except Trump- whatever he wants at the present moment.

Until about 2 months ago, they were all for cutting spending and debts and deficits. Now, they're in favor of a bill that increases spending and debt, because, well, Trump wants it and told them they should want it.

Their past professed ideals and values shift and change as Trump does and they'll shite all over ideals and politicians who do not change as the Trump wind blows... and call them RINOs and lie about/misrepresent them. The irony in that is lost on them because they're insanely fricking stupid people. It's a fricking cult. If Trump told them they should all be gay, today, every one of them would have a dick in their mouth before lunchtime.

What are the differences in federal fiscal obligations between the original bill and the amendment proposed by Massie sent back up the hill?
