Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Joey Belle ever comes back to LSU or does interviews? I know he left on not so good terms, but surprised he does not gets interviewed about his time here. He was a very dynamic player

He wasn’t exactly enamored with any type of press. I’d figure him for a recluse these days. But yes one of the
most fearsome individuals to ever play the game. Bad attitude all the time

Dude was such a special player, but he had some serious anger management problems. That incident with the Miss State fan notwithstanding (which I will never fault him for), he’ll probably cool off in another 7-10 business years. Maybe then.

I hope he’s gotten some peace.

ETA: his personality carried with him into the MLB. Media and fans alike got the picture, also.

Albert/Joey Belle might punch a reporter. I don’t think anyone has the courage to speak to him today.

But that man could crush a baseball.

Albert came from a good, strong family and was an Eagle Scout growing up. At some point, and strictly playing armchair psychologist here, my read is that he probably started to battle some mental health issues. Luckily he was able to take his anger out on baseballs. And Fernando Vina.

Also...he should be in the MLB HOF. He was a top-5 hitter in the 90s.

He had 50 homers and 50 doubles, nobody else has achieved that. Ohtani is the only member in 50/50 for homers and stolen bases.

He's been done with Skip and LSU since the day he was kicked off the team
Skip has said many times if he could go back and change some things that would be one thing he would like to revisit

If you want to retire a number, Belle is one that laid the foundation of those early LSU teams

Msu fan would be arrest and life ruined in today's world.

Honestly we probably didn't do enough to protect him there.

Shouldn't have taken the field until that guy was gone

Maybe he could revisit the Saban situation as well if he ever finds his time machine.

A special player, but not a team player. He refused to buy into Skip's system. He would not put forth the effort needed. It was too bad, because he could have made a bigger impact.

Their dad was one of my coaches at Airline. I knew the boys because they hung out at and after practice, and they also played on the same baseball all star team with my younger brother.

They were amazing kids. Very polite and nice.

Skip's system

Skip was honest to a fault with his players. That was not exactly the right approach with Belle. However, Albert more than likely used it as fuel to murder baseballs as a pro.
