Is it worth seeing? Any RV camping nearby? Anything to do in the area?

I spent a couple of days up there with a summer camp outfit as an instructor. From what I remember, there was some sort of Indian Mound or found artifacts from a trading site, and that was it.

Pretty interesting site, incredibly old. Worth spending a few hours there and doing the guided tour.

The campground for RVs is about 20 minutes away from the park.

Is the campground a state park/campground or a private campground? Anything to do besides the Mound tour?

One of those things that’s a lot cooler to see from above on tv, imo. It’s featured in Ancient Apocalypse, Graham Hancocks show on Netflix. Kind of sick we have something like that in our state, but it just looks like grass hills from the ground.

As far as other stuff to do, there’s Black Bear golf course and fishing. That’s about it. You’re a little over a half hour away from Monroe but there isnt shite to do there either

Yes, in fact the then state senator Francis Thompson built himself a lake there:

The cabins used to be nice,

Hotter then hell in the summer in that part of Louisiana.

Definitely go see it. The view from the top of the main mound is cool considering how old it is. In the immediate area there isn't much to do, but I'm sure you can find something to get into in either Monroe or Vicksburg.

Absolutely worth an afternoon. If you have a history/archaeology bent its really incredible.

They have date ranges as to how old the complex (it was built in stages) is but they arent really certain. For whatever reason its not a site that has been excavated extensively. One reason is its so old to get to the artifact layers you would have to move a shite ton of dirt.

Take the tour. Then get in the car and head back to civilization, not much out there.
