It’s time to give Yeskie some credit

A lot of us gave Yeskie all kinds of hell early this season. I never wanted him fired necessarily , but there were plenty here who did. I cant say he never did anything to warrant criticism, but it looks a little different in hindsight.
Yeskie may not be perfect, but it turns out he’s done a hell if a job developing this staff over the season. Eyanson has become the best version of himself and improved a lot over the course of the season. The changes the staff have made to Shores’ mechanics have really helped to steady him. Noot has become reliable and seems to trust himself again after TJ. Evans has had some stumbles, but he’s a freshman. And others like Rizy, Williams and Fontenot have at least found roles. Hell, even Schmidt seemed to have his head on straight last night, although that may be the last time we see him this season. Cowan and Ware are the only ones who have truly regressed, and there is still an opportunity for Cowan to get back on track.
I was pretty down on Yeskie up until the last 2 SEC series, but happy to admit I was wrong. Sometimes it takes time for development to show up. He’s done a very good job with this staff and set us up for a run if the bats can keep up.

I was thinking the same this morning. The staff has made great strides from the start of the season. That is indicative of good coaching. Watching a bunch of other games this weekend and some pitch calls I’m grateful for coach Yeskie.

Credit to any coach at LSU is strictly forbidden.
Signed,
Negatigers that know more than any coach.

I still wonder about some of the pitch calls but you can’t deny the improvement over this season. I was never one who wanted him fired, though.

Yeah, I’d say the pitching coach for one of the Top5 pitching staffs in the country deserves some credit.
Just about every pitcher on our team has been as good or better than we thought they would be going into the season. And most have gotten better as the season progressed.
Our pitching and defense is as good as we’ve ever had in a season at LSU.

I agree with you. Some of the obvious wasted pitch calls when up in counts are strange and have lead to some walks from guys other than Anderson and Eyanson.

The erratic performance of the pen over the first 2/3 of the season really overshadowed all of the good for a while there.

Pitching to the weak side of the shift will never make sense to me
It’s like serving wide while your partner is playing Australian in tennis. Give them the easy line all day.

Yeskie hasn't developed anyone on this team.

Amazing timing just as we are about to get run ruled by LRock High.
If this doesn’t put fire in their belly for tomorrow’s game we deserve to go home.
