We lost a great in Lynn Amedee

Well, we lost another one this past Tuesday. Lynn played football and baseball for the Tigers from 1960-1962.

Lynn Joseph Amedee, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away at the age of 83 on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He attended Istrouma High School and LSU, where he played quarterback from 1960-1962 and was named outstanding player of the 1963 Cotton Bowl. He was also a pitcher for the 1960-1961 SEC championship baseball team. Lynn played professional football for the Edmonton Eskimos and then went on to have a distinguished career as a professional and college football coach serving as offensive coordinator for a number of universities, including LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, USL, Texas A&M, Florida, Texas, and Mississippi State. He also coached for the New Orleans Saints and the Birmingham Americans of the World Football League.

He was a really good man. He was a neighbor of mine at one time. A fun guy to talk to.

He was also a pretty solid LSU assistant coach for several years.

I still remember the Auburn game… he was offensive coordinator… kept calling for passes across the middle … don’t remember who the qb was … but he threw 3-4 pick 6’s and LSU lost that game. Thought he was over his head coaching

Jamie Howard and all we had to do was run 3 times and punt. Our defense wasn’t giving an inch.

I know it’s unfair but that’s how I will remember him- terrible OC in the Hallman years.

I remember Lynn completing several big passes to TE Billy Truax in the Cotton Bowl win.
