Found myself with a few days off.
I guess i wasn’t quite done with the turkeys.
I really enjoy escaping the south Alabama heat/humidity for any reason.
Holler if you have any advice for getting on em or after em up that way. ??

You have to bait with lobster rolls and not corn.

Saw a lot of turkeys in SE Maine. No idea about access. Good luck and report back.

Ride the roads and scout for birds in fields. If land is not posted, plan your hunt. Damndest thing I ever heard of for a mostly liberal state of just being able to go anywhere you please as long as it is not posted

Had a great trip!
Got to meet Uncle Pete, He makes the finest Birch Bark wing bone yelpers around
Uncle Pete’s Wingbones
They’re still Easterns ; They just Talk funny.
Mid May provides a whole other World to chase turkeys in and an escape from the South Alabama Heat is always welcome.
From the first time I saw stacked stones lining historic roads and fields I knew that I wanted to experience New England so away we went for Turkey strolls and Lobster rolls. The worst to offer , Iconic Maine weather made time to roll in thick, damp, and blinding. The ticks outnumbered humans, turkeys, trees, and grains of dirt a million to one. Any trickle of sweat would convince you it was growing legs and seeking a warm spot to burrow in and call home.
The best to offer was emblematic views, unmatched hospitality, incredible coastal seafood, glimpses of warm weather, and willing Gobblers. Even the mosquitos are cordial and an absence of stickers, thorns, and venomous snakes lent us notions of Valhalla.
This trip never would’ve happened if it wasn’t for Uncle Pete, A true Mainer, a Champion turkey caller, and the originator of the Bark Bone trumpet. We got to hear a bit of history and see part of the call making process. Without his knowledge our trip would certainly have been less monumental.
Big Thanks To Mr Parrish Davis at Great Southern Gun Works for an expedited Drill, Tap, and Mount on the new rig. She shot true.

How was your season in S Alabama this year btw. Mine was terrible, not sure if it was increased hunting pressure late start, my shitty calling or what but turkeys were off. 2 killed all year, and just one was mine
