Pitchers are too good and teams have too many of them.

Jake brown cannot hit against left handed pitching. You have to take him out.

On the flip side, if he’s not starting and a righty is in late against Braswell, you play the numbers and put in Brown.

If you’re going to be an analytics based coach, which Jay is, you can’t half arse it. The odds only work in your favor if you play them the vast, vast majority of the time. It’s all math.
