Brand new fridge not cold enough

Bought a new Maytag fridge this week and it doesn’t get as cold as I expected. When set on the coldest setting, it only gets to 42 degrees. When on medium, it’s about 48. Before I go through the hassle of returning it, those numbers are not acceptable correct? Any things to look at before sending it back?

Seems high. I think mine sits at 38°
How long have you had it running? Is it empty or do you have anything stocked inside?
Not sure if you have a knob or if it’s digital, but have you tried running it at 1 notch below the coldest setting to test it?

I'd call customer service and let them know

Make sure you arent obstructing air flow in the back of the fridge.
Im not sure the fan on the rear exterior of the fridge can be affected as well, but inside the fridge you dont want your things pushed up again the back wall.

Should be 38 degrees.
Look at the drip pan and see if there is any styrofoam blocking air circulation.
Other than that, it’s a return.

Definitely should be getting colder than that

Should be in the 34-38 deg range.
Put a few jugs/bottles of water/drinks in and give it 4 hours or so.
Is the freezer temp around 0?

Hard to believe a new Maytag being the problem. Gotta be a setting issue.

Did you let it stand up for a day if it was laid down?

Brand new? Just call someone. Why is this difficult?

If you have the opportunity to return if for full refund, do so immediately. I bought a Maytag probably 20 years ago and it never did get cold enough even after a repairman came out while in warranty. I had heard that Maytag has improved but your experience says otherwise. I now have had an LG for over 10 years with no problems.

Brand new, never laid down, delivered and installed by the store, plenty of time to cool down, plenty of room for air around it. I think its just a lemon.
