Put my 200hp Suzuki in the shop because it was not running right. Figured it would be something with fuel system. Told they have to replace high pressure fuel filter, clean injectors and clean vst. A little shocked by the price $1,100.
Is this about right? Something I should do myself?
Thanks

I put a can of sea foam in the gas tank around October. Last time I had ran boat was August. I only use non ethanol gas too.

To clean it, you’ll need to run a much higher concentration through it and then let it sit for an hour or so with the high concentration mixture in the gas system.

Then run clean gas through it. It should smoke like crazy, run rough and start clearing up.

Non ethanol gas with Seafoam. The Red can. The marine formula isn't needed. 1 ounce per gallon of gas. Seafoam is a Stabilizer and it cleans and lubricates your engine components.

Seafoam in every tank and fill up. Keeps fuel system clean.

Only run ethanol free gas. Will save you headaches in the future. Price sounds about right with how expensive marine work is.

What age/hours is your Zuke? I have the same motor 2021 model, I’ve been religious about non-ethanol gas and Seafoam. My nephew that’s a boat mechanic says no to Stabil.

if you are going to try an in tank cleaner, Redline S1 has a healthy dose of PEA and a bottle is ~$16.00..cleaners without PEA are not worth using. I have personally used it to to resolve an issue with my yamaha f150. (idled fine, wouldnt get up on plane) asking for some input on thehulltruth forum I was told I likely had a stuck injector(s) and/or dirty vst..was recommended to replace the inline fuel filter and run the redline through it with fresh gas as long as the motor would run...it did, just wouldnt get up, so I ran it for a couple hours over 2 consecutive weekend afternoons up and down a canal close to the launch and was resolved with just the cleaner. Was told to change oil & plugs after it started running fine again and has been good ever since. If it runs but just runs bad it might be worth a shot..

I replaced inline fuel filter. Does the Yamaha f150 have the high pressure filter?

I pay about $150 to have injectors cleaned and flow tested. That’s with me pulling them and sending them off. I dont know about a Zuke but the filter in a Yamaha VST tank is expensive for what it is.

What they quoted or charged you is high but that’s to be expected from most shops.

Could you do this yourself? If mechanically inclined, yes. Although, the injectors not properly without the right equipment.

Seafoam and pure gas were the first things to come to mind for me. I've read that pure Techron is stronger than Seafoam but haven't tried it.

One in Gonzales tried to tell me the injector cleaning line.
I bought a $50 program off Ebay for Yamaha outboard diagnosis.
It came with an adapter plug to hook my laptop to the engine's diagnosis port.

Not a single one of my fuel injectors showed any faults.

I bought all of the tiny fuel injector filters off Ebay or Amazon for $10 and changed them myself. Changed the other filters also, and it runs good now.

only an inline filter and there is another filter in the vst tank. Try the redline if you have the time, its really good stuff.

If you have a metal fuel tank, you probably have water condensing out which is very bad on the low and high pressure fuel pumps. After market fuel pumps are not that expensive and should be replaced also.

I've done that sitting in a marina with a two stroke.

That's not a good way to make friends.
