Is it possible that they will open against Mississippi State whose starting pitcher will be ex Tiger Raelin Chaffin? We don't need to be eliminated from the SEC tournament in Game 1 by an ex Tiger.

Anybody know the background story on why Chaffin left LSU? TIA

Probably the same reason Aleah Johnson left and joined the gumps. Beth picks one maaaybe two pitchers and runs them ragged. Then throws a kid who hasn't pitched in months at the end of the year and wonders why they dont perform well in the biggest games of the year. Maybe.

How many different main pitchers do you think are needed to get through a weekend in softball?

Well, none of this is true. What are you talking about?

Chaffin left because she wanted to be a #1 pitcher, which is what she is at State. She knew she would be behind Berzon and Heavener here, so she left. Ya know, kinda like 1000 other kids in all sports do nowadays.

Johnson wasn't a major loss. She has only pitched 12 innings in SEC games and has an ERA of 6.63.

And it isn't like Chaffin is setting the world on fire. Her SEC ERA is 3.62. We could have used her as a #3, but it isn't like we let an All-American go.

I bet just about every coach does this. But go ahead take a dump on your coach.

Johnson pitched 44 innings her year at LSU. She pitched 44 innings last year at Bama. This year she's pitched 39.

You don't think that Chafflin would've gotten more playing time given that Berzon has struggled so badly of late?

She probably would have for sure. But Chaffin wasn't going to hang around here for her senior year hoping for Berzon and Heavener to fail so she could get some innings.

"Softball Nikki" should have been fired 3 years ago.

The Fighting TorinaMA's solidly in 8th place in the SEC.

Actually, LSU is the 9th seed in the SEC tournament. They fininshed below Mississippi State and thus play each other tomorrow I believe and will be the "visiting team". That in itself is embarrassing
