Retailers scramble for Chinese made Christmas presents

Despite some rerouting of China-made goods through other countries, replacing existing supply chains and shipping schedules will be difficult to achieve overnight. For 36% of U.S. imports from China, more than 70% can only be sourced from mainland suppliers, according to a Goldman Sachs analysis earlier in April.
For example, electronic products need to be shipped out of China by early September to hit U.S. shelves right after the Thanksgiving holiday at the end of November, taking into account customs clearance and the distribution chain, said Renaud Anjoran, CEO of Agilian Technology, an electronics manufacturer in China. The Guangdong-based company delivers half of its products to the U.S. market.
It takes around six months to manufacture, test, assemble, and package, meaning suppliers ideally should have started preparing for these orders in March, said Anjoran.

Agree. I welcome America to quit buying cheap chinese crap. The adults need to ween our children off the cycle we are in, Even if it means hurting some of your stock portfolios.

When I was growing up you got maybe 2 toys for Christmas. Now? It’s an orgy of presents. Kids are extremely spoiled.

This was my family. I was born in 53 and remember Christmas gifts like , footballs and baseball gloves and bats. Cap pistols and train sets. One year Santa went high tech and we got a football field where players moved by vibrations.
A little older and BB guns and clothes.
Now I see people posting FB Christmas morning all in matching sleep pants arse deep in toys that will be broken or forgotten by New Years.

Don't worry. I am not going to buy Christmas presents this year. It's better to have empty shelves than full inventory warehouse
