I know we have him and all, but i'm curious to know where yall think our class would be if we didn't have him. I mean this kid is one of the most--if not the most---significant recruits LSU has ever gotten. He's pretty much lured in several playmakers in our class. I would say our class would be anywhere from 10th-15th without him. I am happy to have him and hope the kid has successful career at LSU.

RS is truely a gifted player but LSU would be just as good without him.

Our class obviously wouldn't be quite as good, but we'd still probably be in the top 5, and very comfortably in the top 10.

LSU is better for having a person and a player like RS.

Why not. He hasn't seen a snap yet. It's all potential till he gets on the field. That being said, this recruiting class would probably be ranked 5 - 10 without him and the players he influenced.

I will say this. LM would probably be catching more heat at this point for not keeping up with Saban if RS wasn't in the class.

That makes more sense than the first post, but I'd say closer to 5 IMOO

All that I can say is that I was just thinking about our class - All I can say is just WOW -- we will a nationalship or two riding the srength of class, would not suprise me to see numerous kids playing the 5 NFL one day. Russell will be one of them. Every great program in the country needs a kid like this - the talent matched or I say overmatched leadership skills this kid has is Tebowesque on steriods. I chose us because of opportunity, a reborn LSU Tiger football supremecy in the making and the bonds created with the coaches. The question is amuzing?

Maybe we can get him a big red A to put by his name, then he would fit in...

ths class would still be 5-7ish

we still get Jackson, davenport, randle(huge assumption, but i dont think shep has the influence over him as the factors that would still be there even if shep was elsewhere), ford and mingeaux.

so out of lousiana alone, we have 2 5*, another possible 5*(randle), and 2 high 4* guys. obviously loston probably wouldnt happen. and--by virtue of the question-- not having an elite player like shep would hurt, but i think this is an excellent class without the houston duo

now, if mr shepard delivers us debose and/or ray ray, i would add that to the "shepard's contributions" list.

i love shep as a player and person, and this class is better b/c of him, but its hardly an aggie class without him

if you replace him with randle, lsus ranking would still be the same.

very true.

but think about this. How many players that we will sign this year, would have signed with lsu in the pre saban era???

ford maybe
jackson nope
mingo nope
randle nope
shepard nope
downs probably
davenport possibly
minter nope
calhoun nope
brockers nope
loston nope
lacy probably
sentimore ????
we would basically have ended up with logan, barrow, claiborne, johns and probably a bunch of other players we are not hearing about in louisiana.

He's a great get. He has probably helped us some with other recruits, but probably not nearly as much as he is getting credit for in my opinion. Maybe something definitive will come out later that will change my mind. It wouldn't make me unhappy. I'm happy with the class regardless of how they got here, but I would be inclined to think all of these kids have tremendous egos, and are not swayed as much as you would think by another prestigous recruit.

To give you some idea of how I see it, when I heard someone suggest that the LSU crowd should chant"Ruben, Ruben" at the B ball game Sat., I thought, "What about the other important recruits there".
