I started this thread to complain about Paul Byrd being back

And while we are on the subject of announcers/reporters, I would also like to continue complaining about CJ.
With the number of former Braves players that live in Atlanta, surely they could get someone better than a career negative WAR relief pitcher with only 22 career appearances for the Braves who spends the entire broadcast telling everyone which pitches are registering as sliders and which are registering as sweepers.
Of course, it was probably just Liberty picking the cheapest option. The good news is that the money they save can go to the payroll, right?

Jacob Webb has a higher career WAR and more appearances in a Braves uniform than CJ Nitkowski
Let’s make him the analyst.
Jesse Biddle, Robbie Erlin, anyone?

I also don’t think Gaudin is that good.
His TV voice sounds fake and he tries too hard to make jokes instead of actually setting up the situation.

Or age has finally caught up to him.

Kele loafed on that one. Should’ve been at second easily.

2 wins in a row for the first time this season.
We're a 4-game winstreak away from Steelers making his triumphant return from the dead.

Lou Brown - That’s called a winning streak

I’m frankly surprised nobody signed him to a major league deal
Here’s how he’s compared to the league average OPS each year:
2017: -.206
2018: -.022
2019: +.059
2020: +.104
2021: +.049
2022: +.026
2023: +.011
2024: -.064
5 solid years in a row followed by one bad one

Probably because it was a gradual decline before bottoming out last year.

Still, plenty of guys who’ve sat below league average for multiple years still getting major league contracts
