LSU baseball roster size

Apparently next year college baseball has to lower active players from 40 to 34. If true, who on the team do you let go?

Probably the seniors and the guys who get drafted, and the guys who decide to transfer.

nothing official yet but yes it will be a smaller roster size and you won't be able to have a large fall roster you have to cut down
the question will be whether they grandfather in current players to avoid mass attrition across country
no sense in speculating until after you get through draft and portal madness and see how it all shakes out

Will need 2-4 two way players. Will need kids that can play the field and able to pitch.

How many players are you allowed for SEC games? 26? 27?

It's a dumb rule. Pretty soon it'll be a dozen players on roster sharing 1.25 total scholarships.
With all the free for all transfers I think it will mean coaches will be less likely to take a gamble/project type player and only focus on relatively known commodities. Guys like Meyers probably don't make the roster. Potential to lose more guys to the draft too if you're a guy like cam Johnson with a lot of upside but needing a lot of work to become productive. Might as well take the money than to be shuffled around and processed because a coach needs guys who can throw strikes now, not next year. Could be good for smaller colleges though.

Agree. Pre Covid, rosters were limited to 35 with 27 players on scholarship. Now, more scholarships will be available to the 34 players.

It’s pretty much a done deal. 38 man roster for the fall and 34 man rosters for the spring 2026 season.

Nah... it would help but not needed. MLB has 26-man rosters and they play 100 more games.

And those 27 players shared 11.7 scholarships. Baseball hardly if ever offers full scholarships to a player.
