Any recommendations for someone in the BR/Prairieville area to move a safe and do it responsibly?

+1 for Mike Wards movers. I will say, I felt like a schmuck for paying those guys to move it after I watched them move it. Aside from not having a Tommy gate to drop it out of the truck, it was easy as hell to do. An hd floor dolly, glass suction handles, a towel, and a long strip of plywood to get over thresholds and it was done. Took them maybe 10 minutes total.

Yeah, but a 400lb+ safe isn't worth fricking around with.

I know the feeling… I moved a 900+lb safe enough times to know that I had no business trying to move a 1,500 lb one. The movers made it look super easy, but there was like 10 of them and they had all the right gadgets. They also didn’t mark up the door frame like I always seemed to do with my smaller one.

?? I only mark door frames when I’m helping someone else move, maybe they won’t ask be again!
This was two guys, so I felt even dumber.

I moved mine this past month. Its weight on the website is listed as 500lbs. With the help of my 120lb nephew and an appliance dolly, I moved it from an upstairs apartment to my new house. Once down the stairs, it was a piece of cake. The Uhaul had a ramp so I was able to load it and unload it pretty easily. Was I breathing hard after getting it down the flight of stairs? Yes. Sweating? Yes. Was I going to pay someone to do it for me? Not a chance.

One thing is for sure… once you see someone that knows what they’re doing move one, you realize how important it is to bolt it down.

You nailed it. I’ve moved some heavy shite over the years in sketchy situations. Contracting it out was never an option.

Its all a game of math and numbers or something.
