Some complete batshit crazy stuff in here.

No wonder Brian eventually melted down.

It is difficult to read but I do remember reading that Murray slapped him so hard in the ear that he lost hearing in it.

I'm not overly familiar with the details - are you saying Murry is making up batshit stuff or just recounting batshit stuff?

They (Murry as well as his entire family) were nuts.

The craziest Murry stories I have heard are him making Brian take a dump on a paper plate in front of him and he took his glass eyeball out and made Brian stare into the empty socket. Murry was a jealous sack of shite and it is amazing Brian was able to create what he did with that bastard as a father.

There are multiple versions of that story. In one version, Murry hit him with a 2x4. In another version:

quote:

He later went deaf in one ear after a neighborhood kid hit in the head with a lead pipe.

Daily Mail article on Brian's memoir

Then there is the psychotherapist Landy who supposedly took over his life in the 70's. I watched an interview with Brian where he claims that Landry abused him and would make him do stuff like eat spaghetti off the floor. The article linked above doesn't mention the spaghetti incident, but goes into more detail about his control over Brian.

After watching interviews with Brian and reading different versions of different stories, I take all the stories with a grain of salt.

I read the first couple of pages and it seemed pretty rationale, articulate and even kinda deep.

He gets around to repeatedly blaming Brian for being a lousy human being.

Ironic since he ultimately drove everyone away by being a raging a-hole.

Judging by the formality of it he was probably writing it deliberately to appear the nice guy but as it went on couldn’t help himself.

Crazy how so much mental illness (including Brian’s grandfather) can result in such great accomplishments. Or maybe it isn’t crazy but a catalyst.

It's kind of like claiming Hitler was better than Stalin because he killed less people. Both Brian and Murray were arseholes.

By the way, so was Dennis. He actually married Mike Love's very young daughter.

Probably had the most legitimate reasoning for being crazy. That Manson connection probably weighed a ton.

The Beach Boys mini series was excellent.
The dad selling the rights to their music cost them billions of dollars.
