In case you haven't seen it or read an article from last week on it, one of the guys that owned Blue Giant on Magazine street recently opened up a place on Veterans, corner of Vets and Homestead.
Dr Jones gets it's name from the initial DR of one owner and the last name of the other.
Very small, no liquor license, but absolutely fantastic.
We have been twice now. Sat at the bar both times.
The mirliton/cabbage salad is fantastic. Crispy chicken bites, excellent.
They had a tuna ceviche special last night as well as tapioca coquettes. Both were incredible.
We shared the roasted eggplant and a side order of the coconut rice with fried garlic. Again, these were great.
Last visit I had the jerk steak which I really liked.
Both owners were there both times, one cooking and the other finishing plates and expiditing.
They also do take out.
Currently only open four days a week, Wed- Sat. Wed Thursday and Friday 11-3 and Saturday 11-9.
They have done one Friday dinner service and they sold out of food.
I can't recommend this place enough
