You can see my assessment of what this might mean schematically Here

But in the meantime...I think we can safely say now that this is very very deliberate. All 3 guys have spent entire careers in college, and all 3 were HEAVILY involved in Recruiting.

Speculation on what it could mean:

1) Huge youth movement on Defense, wanting guys that were involved in college and recruiting to work with and get the most out of the young players

2) Schematically we are looking to heavily steal from the college game and how they defend the Spread, running QBs, etc. Lots of odd front looks

What specifically Bo Davis means:

To me it is interesting that we hired two guys with significant experience in defenses that run 2-4-5 and 3-3-5...and now Bo Davis. Why?

Bo primarily focused on DTs at LSU. What position has the most pressure in a 2 man front? DT. You're also running out some guys that could be traditional DTs in a 3 man front across the board as well.

Bo Davis hasn't spent his entire career in college, he has coached for the Dolphins, Jags, and Lions.

You're right I shouldn't have used "entire". But he has spent the vast majority of his career in college. His stints in NFL were all very short

I like it. Not saying it will be a huge success, but I like that they are doing something radically different. If radically is the right word.

We've all been saying for a long time how stale the Saints have become, well I'm all for big change (attempts).
