I recall the OT questioning state lottery legitimacy a few years ago when the McDonald’s Monopoly fraud documentary aired.

I read a story this week about Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick investigating something about Lottery courier services. Then the Texas Lottery Commissioner Clark Smith abruptly resigned last Friday.

Can someone explain this situation and if it’s a possible fraud event? I’ve always assumed state lottery games were legitimate but I also thought the Monopoly game was too back in the 90s.

Any lottery is always going to be susceptible to insiders.

I swore that I got Boardwalk on a baseball trip, had Park Place at home, and mom threw away all my pieces by the time I got back. After watching that doc, I had to eat some crow.

In Texas, you can piss away your life savings on lottery tickets and scratch-offs but don’t you dare think about gambling on sports!

The guy in Colorado I think it was that programmed the lotto machine and would tell his buddies what numbers where likely to pop up. He in jail I believe.

Apparently there are strict laws around who can actually sale lottery tickets, it is only supposed to be store fronts that also sale other items, ie gas stations like we all see. Well some company's are skirting the law, these places are full of lottery terminals that are selling very high volume of tickets, mostly to people out of state, they are using QR codes to speed up the processing time to the point that someone from out of state actually bought 25+ million dollars worth of tickets which was every possible combo of numbers that could be played a couple years back, I believe the jackpot they won was around 95 million. One of the company's doing this is Draft Kings. DP visited one of the places last week that just sold a 85 million dollar winning ticket, they a had few board games sitting on a table for sale so they could say they sold other items and then dozens of terminals in the back taking orders from all over the country, maybe the world for lottery tickets though their app. Sounds like the lottery commission will be banning courier services very shortly.
