Miles isn't as rambunctious with his words as the author would have you believe. He didn't say that this class would win national championships, or even be in the NC games. He said they would "compete for national championships." Technically speaking, you're dong that every year when you step on the field for the first game. But even allowing that this isn't a fair interpretation of Les' statement, it is fair to say that he was simply predicting that LSU, with these recruits, will be in the hunt, "maybe" (yes, he said "maybe") several times. That's a perfectly defensible comment, especially in the context of trying to sell recruits on coming to LSU. Any more than that is the reporter's imbuing Miles' words with more than is there. In other words, Mr. Schiefelbein (and BT4LSU), see my sig quote.
