I always get La Fonda and El Rio Grande confused... I know I like one of them a lot, but don't care for the other. I think El Rio Grande is the one I like...

It died when Mrs.Despo did. She was a sweetheart.
The last few times I went for their signature item(their taco meat)..'twas very greasy and the meat quality was very subpar.
BR Mexican, despite still greatly lacking in quality and variety, has come a long way since the days when LaFonda ruled the roost.
Mestizos, Superior, Ninfas, La Carreta, La Tiendita/Del Sol, La Reyna, a myriad of area taquerias popping up, and Coyote Blues on the way to the old location of One Star on Acadian..
Like all things BR and La, slowly but hopefully..

Only ate there once. Don't remember too much about the food, was too busy watching the ROACHES crawling up the wall behind my table.
ETA: This was several years ago. They've probably cleaned up since then, but I'm still not going back.

I've gone there for almost 35 years. Very young child when I started going w/ parents. Was up by Plank at Airline then. Still good stuff, just a little different than others.
