Vietnam will blow you away (especially compared to Singapore)

Of course the obvious choices are Saigon and Hanoi … but if you have the time Hue, Nha Trang (seafood), Hoi An (noodles and seafood on the coast)
Are all great visits and have amazing food options.

And on that note … i would recommend watching Luke Ngyuen’s traveling Vietnam by rail show. Good stuff.

Did a tour in Nam in 69-70 as a Marine grunt. Never ate anything but C-Rats. An utter ruin of deforested mountains.

Went back in March 2004 and found a paradise had sprung up. Gorgeous place, it had become.

Food in Hanoi was quite good. Lot of fish and pork dishes. Veggies are fresh and tasty. (Dog is only served in one area of city and is not a nice place.)

Ended our 11-day trip in Hue and food was world class. The prawns will spoil you. The soups are numbah-won.
